About our Available Treatments: Also referred to as the "adjustment", chiropractic manipulation is a safe manual procedure to restore normal motion to a joint of the spine or extremities. Because every patient is unique, the doctor will decide if this is an important part of your care or if another treatment technique is more appropriate for you.
Our office contains a 1000 square foot rehabilitation area hosting a full complement of physical therapy equipment. Dr. Haydu is board certified in chiropractic rehab and is an expert in planning and implementing your therapy. Our knowledge of rehab is not limited to the spine, as we commonly treat joint problems of the knee, hip, shoulder, or any other joint. Rehabilitation exercise combined with your manual therapy is a great way to promote a rapid return to work, normal daily activities, or your favorite sport. MUSCLE AND MYOFASCIAL RELEASE: At our clinic, we utilize the most effective muscle relaxation and stretching techniques including certification in Active Release Techniques (ART); a therapy that has become internationally famous for its effective approach in treating muscle injuries. ART is used by professional athletes of every sport to help muscle recovery and decrease pain. MANUAL AND MECHANICAL TRACTION:
Cohen & Haydu were the first office in the Wyoming Valley to offer mechanical spine traction, also known as spinal decompression. This therapy is a safe and painless approach to treating acute or chronic disc pain, spinal stenosis, or spinal arthritis in the neck or low back.
McKenzie therapy is a manual therapy technique that is an incredibly effective treatment of acute and chronic spine pain, disc injuries, pinched nerves, or sciatica. Dr. Cohen and Dr. Haydu are two of only fifty chiropractors in North America who are certified in this technique. KINESIO TAPING AND ATHLETIC TAPING: We provide taping techniques to help support an injured muscle, tendon, or ligament. Our doctors have been certified in Kinesiotaping since 2002, a form of muscle taping becoming widely used by professional and Olympic level athletes. VOJTA THERAPY AND PEDIATRIC DEVELOPMENTAL EXAMS: Vojta ("voy-ta") therapy is popular in Europe as a rehabilitation treatment to stimulate the deep muscle systems of the spine and extremities. Originally developed by Czech pediatric neurologist Vaclav Vojta to treat cerebral palsy, this system of analysis and therapy is used effectively to treat chronic pain and adolescent scoliosis. Vojta also includes a system of analysis for babies and toddlers up to 18 months of age allowing you to gauge key body developments (rolling, crawling, walking) in your child. This analysis is rarely if ever performed at your pediatrician's office. Dr. Cohen has studied this technique extensively in Germany and the Czech Republic and is only the 2nd doctor in North America to be certified in Vojta therapy. Jaw pain? We offer effective care and support for the TMJ using muscle release combined with jaw and neck rehabilitation exercise. We are the referral site for many local dentists, who realize the importance of manual therapy for the TMJ. SPORTS INJURY CARE AND PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT: We offer sports injury care to athletes of all ages and can effectively treat any joint or muscle.
